Website Hosting and Domain Registration
Every website needs a name (domain) and a home (host). If you already have taken this step, great. If not, relax. I'll take care of this for you.
Website Copy Writing
The average visitor will spend about 10 seconds scanning your Home page to decide whether they want to “come inside”. We believe your Home page should invite the visitor in. The Home page should summarize what your business is all about so that the visitor to your site will want to learn more about your products and services.
Your website should satisfy a visitor’s basic questions about the who, what, why, how and where's of your business. Images and Flash designs can make your website attractive, but your customer cares more about the benefits they will receive from your service or product. To convey the benefits, good copy is critical.
To begin the copy writing process, gather your company brochures, business plans, advertising and/or product and business manuals. If you prefer, I can write the copy for you. If you choose to write the copy yourself, I'll review the copy with you to ensure key words and phrases are emphasized.
Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
Search Engine Marketing promotes your website in ways that will get it noticed by the search engines. The marketing side of SEM involves advertising and target marketing in order to draw traffic to your website. SEM includes (but is not limited to):
- Pay-for-inclusion – into search engines and directories.
- Traditional Ads – Placing paid advertisements on the search engine results page
- Pay-per-click – Text Based ads (the ads you see on the right side of the screen when you perform a search)
A subset of SEM is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO focuses more on your website. SEO is the act of optimizing the html (coding) and other content of your website for relevant, targeted key phrases in order to attain higher natural listings than competing websites. Every website I build is built with SEO in mind.

Just like with a brick and mortar store you have to let your customers know you are open for business. 3W Site Designs submits all sites created to the major search engines to encourage them to visit your site.

Websites take work...
A website is not a "set it and forget it" venture. A site takes regular maintenance. Links become inactive, or information or pictures need to be updated. Before you commit to having a website built, determine how the site will be maintained.
Will someone in-house do the maintenance? If you can use Microsoft Word, you can use Adobe Contribute software to update your site.
Updating and maintaining the site is something someone on staff can learn to do, but it's time consuming. In-house staff should have specific time each week dedicated to maintaining the site.
If finding the time in-house is not an option, maintenance should be out-sourced.
Websites should have a goal...
Before you even contact a web designer, determine what the personality and image are you wish to reflect on the site and what features are important to your customers. Ask yourself:
What is my goal? What do I hope to accomplish with a website?
What do I want it to look like?
What information will my customers need?
Take time to look around online. Look at sites to see what you like and don't like. These sites don't have to be in the same business you are in. Look at the colors they use, look at where the navigation links are. Does the page fill the full window, or only part of it. This will go a long way in helping you to decide what you want your site to look like.
While you're at it, take a look at your competitors sites. What do you like and what don't you like about their sites?
Flash Designs on a Website...
Flash can bring your site to life. With the broadband market growing daily, website owners are increasingly able to expand what they can do with their websites. 3W Site Designs can produce Flash objects and movies to enhance your website.
Keep in mind when using Flash:
Flash sites take longer to load than non-flash sites. A little goes a long way. Many people design the Home page like a front door. They believe that if they hang a pretty picture on it (lots of flash and very little content) this will entice more visitors. Flash doesn’t grab the attention of the search engines and search engines are what bring the majority of the visitors to your site.
